Columbia Computer Science Student Qijia Shao was selected to attend the 2024 CPS Rising Stars Workshop and the 2024 MobiSys Rising Stars Forum. Qijia also won the Best Presentation Award at Mobisys Rising Stars Forum!
Qijia Shao is a last-year Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science Department at Columbia University. He is a member of the Mobile X Lab and Intelligent and Connected Systems Lab (ICSL), under the supervision of Professor Xia Zhou and Professor Xiaofan (Fred) Jiang.
Qijia’s research focuses on mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, and human-computer interaction. During his Ph.D., he has published several papers in top journals and conferences in his field (e.g., MobiSys, IMWUT/UbiComp, MobiCom, NSDI, CHI) and has received multiple awards including MobiSys Best Paper Award, MobiSys Best Demo Award, MobiCom Best Demo Award, Hotmobile Best Demo Award, UbiComp Best Teaser Award, and NSF Awesome Discoveries. He was also named among ACM MobiSys Rising Stars, NSF Rising Stars in Cyber-Physical Systems. He has also worked at Philips/Signify Research, Snap Research, and Samsung Research, where several of his proposed algorithms are being deployed in real-world products.
