Prof. Jiang Named Founding Treasurer of ACM SIGEnergy

Xiaofan (Fred) Jiang, an associate professor of electrical engineering at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University and co-chair of the Data Science Institute’s Smart Cities Center, has been named founding treasurer and a member of the executive committee of the Association for Computing Machinery’s (ACM) new Special Interest Group on Energy Systems and Informatics (SIGENERGY).

SIGENERGY brings together an interdisciplinary group of researchers with diverse backgrounds in sensing, modeling, optimization, control, network and systems design, and experimentation to discuss and address key challenges in future energy systems, and their impact on society.

Jiang and his group at Columbia Intelligent and Connected Systems Laboratory conduct research in cyber-physical human systems to apply computing and AI methods to improve energy efficiency, health, and safety in cities.

Prior to the formation of SIGENERGY, Jiang served on the executive committee of ACM’s emerging interest group on energy.
