SPINDLES: A Smartphone Platform for Intelligent Detection and Notification of Leg Shaking
Stephen Xia, a second year Ph.D. student in ICSL, presented the workshop paper SPINDLES at the International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp) in Maui, Hawaii. This paper dives into the design and development of an intelligent, real-time mobile system for detecting leg shaking events in humans.
“Leg shaking, is often an involuntary motion that many of us experience daily,” says Stephen Xia. “It can be distracting to the people around us and can have a detrimental effect on our daily lives.”
The paper describes the challenges and presents a robust method for detecting leg shaking. To read more about the project, the paper can be accessed here.
