Our paper, “My Pillow Knows My Sleep: Sleep Monitoring with Computational Fabrics in the Pillowcase,” led by Qijia Shao (co-advised by Prof. Xia Zhou), has received the ACM IMWUT/UbiComp Distinguished Paper Award.
In this work, we present PillowSense, a fabric-based sleep monitoring system integrated into a pillowcase. Across 151 nights and 912.2 hours of real-world sleep data, PillowSense achieved an F1 score of 88% in classifying seven sleep postures, with clinically acceptable accuracy in vital sign monitoring.
